Roofing Insights has been made aware of another hack, this time in the form of James Kenton, a traveling chuck-in-the-truck who most recently was the owner of Tennessee Metal Roofing.

According to news station WTVF NewsChannel 5 in Nashville, Kenton has been discovered to have lied on a contractor’s license application in the state of Tennessee.

Authorities were made aware of Kenton’s misconduct after a slew of complaints filed against him.

Mary Lynn Norman of Bellevue was a customer of Kenton’s and she had nothing positive to say about Kenton’s workmanship.

"They [Kenton’s company] never fixed it [her roof]. They never even attempted to fix it,"

she told WTVF.

WTVF also learned that Kenton previously had his contractor’s license revoked, albeit in the state of Massachusetts under the company name Carefree Metal Roofing.

Worse, Kenton also had a felony and was banned from doing business in New Hampshire for employing shady business practices such as theft by deception, witness tampering, and destroying evidence.

Kenton’s attorney has stated that his client did his best to honestly answer every question on the licensure form, a claim that did not sit well with the Contractors’ Board of Tennessee.

"It was obvious to the Board that he [Kenton] was affiliated with the company in Massachusetts and he filled out the application in a fraudulent manner by answering those questions the way that he did,"

said Randy Chase, a member of the Contractors’ Board.

For now, Kenton’s license will remain suspended until at least November, at which point the Contractors’ Board will hold a formal hearing to decide whether Kenton’s license will be reinstated, further suspended, or permanently revoked.
