The Case Against State Farm

The Oklahoma Attorney General has joined a lawsuit against State Farm, alleging the company created an internal program called the “Hail Focus Initiative” to systematically cut roof claim payouts.

According to the AG:

  • State Farm tightened internal definitions of “hail damage” and other terms while keeping policy language unchanged
  • Field adjusters allegedly stripped of authority to approve full roof replacements
  • Engineering firms, inspection vendors, and computer systems were all used to support lower payouts

The claim: these changes led to predetermined outcomes and reduced payouts — potentially by up to 50%. The state argues this violates consumer protection and RICO laws.
